Supertuft Orthocoil Zip and Link Mattress, 12.5 Gauge Hand Tufted

The Supertuft Orthocoil ZipLink Mattress is the mattress element on its own, for buyers who already have zip and link divan bases and simply need to replace the mattresses. Bases and linking bars are not included.

It is built on a 12.5 gauge spring unit. Spring gauge measures the thickness of the wire, and a lower number means thicker wire, which is what gives this mattress its firm, well-supported feel. That firmness is deliberate: contract mattresses are specified to hold up under constant use by different people of different weights, rather than being tuned to one sleeper.

Above the springs are multi-density spring insulator pads. Their job is to stop the coils being felt through the fillings and to spread weight more evenly across the surface, which is what keeps a firm mattress comfortable rather than simply hard.

The mattress is deeply hand tufted. Tufting compresses and secures the layers so the fillings stay where they were placed instead of shifting into ridges and hollows. In a mattress that gets used every night by different people, that is the single biggest factor in how it looks and feels after two years.

The cover is a damask ortho stripe, a traditional durable ticking, and the mattress is made with hypoallergenic materials.

As a zip link mattress it joins to a second mattress with a zip to make one large sleeping surface, and separates back to two singles when a room needs to work as a twin.
